Education and Training
Brighten The Corners is rooted in giving a voice to marginalised individuals and communities through music, event production, media and the arts. Through projects and training programmes we support young people and adults to thrive regardless of race, socio-economic background, mental health challenges or physical disabilities.

Want to learn about putting on gigs and festivals?
Tune Up is a unique free project for 16-25 year olds looking for hands on experience in live events. Participants learn about production, programming, marketing and event management through a series of workshops that offer transferable skills common across the creative industries, particularly the live music sector.
Through 10 weekly sessions the group works with Brighten The Corners staff and other specialists to plan and produce an event, culminating in a public, ticketed gig run by the participants alongside our experienced team at one of our venues.
With industry professionals offering their expertise and experience in different sectors, participants will learn new skills in order to gain the experience and confidence to volunteer and look for employment opportunities within the industry.
No experience needed, just an interest in live events, whether you’re an aspiring sound engineer, content maker, or want to run a festival one day!

Volunteer
We have over 160 volunteers on our books with over 80 actively taking part in our events. Volunteers initially fulfil roles at our smaller venues whilst increasing confidence and gaining key transferable skills to progress to more responsibilities, fast-tracking routes into employment at other BTC venues and events.
Our organisation is built upon providing a sense of place, community and offering opportunities to get involved. We offer over 300 volunteer opportunities and 350 employment opportunities per year.
